Founder story

A lifelong commitment to women's health.

“Care should respect each patient's goals, values, and circumstances.”

I was born in Tehran, Iran, shortly before the Revolution. As my family witnessed the growing challenges facing our country, we immigrated to the United States and spent most of my formative years on Long Island, New York. At just seven years old, I decided I wanted to become a physician. Even then, I was drawn to the idea of building a career centered on helping others and making a meaningful difference in their lives.

That early interest took shape during medical school in Chicago and my OB-GYN residency, where I came to understand the profound impact gynecologic care can have throughout a woman's life. I learned that excellent care requires not only clinical skill, but also listening, respect, and an understanding of each patient's goals.

During residency at a Catholic hospital, I saw how institutional policies could prevent patients from receiving commonly needed reproductive health services, including IUD placement, sterilization, miscarriage management, and abortion care. That experience deepened my commitment to patient autonomy and to providing complete, evidence-based information and care without judgment.

I continue to build expertise in areas of women's health that have too often been underserved or stigmatized, including contraception and abortion care, sexual medicine, pelvic pain, and perimenopausal and menopausal care. I stay current with evolving evidence and specialty guidance so patients can understand their options and make informed decisions that reflect their health needs, values, and lives.

In 2024, I founded the independent, physician-owned practice that is now Central Coast Gynecology. The new name reflects a larger vision: to build a lasting local practice where patients can find personal, responsive, and specialized care. I wanted to build the kind of practice where I could listen carefully, know my patients over time, and make clinical decisions with them. As the practice grows, preserving that human connection will remain central to who we are. Today, I care for patients from adolescence through menopause and beyond, including those with complex concerns or needs that may previously have been dismissed, minimized, or difficult to address.

Serving patients covered by CenCal/Medi-Cal is an essential part of that commitment. It is deeply important to me that patients in the Medicaid community have access to the same respectful, evidence-based, high-quality gynecologic care, because insurance status should never determine the quality of care someone receives.

Patients deserve gynecologic care that is clinically rigorous, compassionate, and genuinely individualized. My goal is to combine current evidence and specialized expertise with thoughtful listening, clear explanations, and shared decision-making. It is a privilege to care for this community and to help each patient feel informed, respected, and supported.
